Start with a simple timeline: when contact began, what was offered, when payments were made and when a problem appeared. Distinguish facts you can document from your interpretation. Keep the exact website addresses and usernames; similar names can refer to entirely different entities.
Preserve original messages, emails, agreements, advertisements, receipts and withdrawal requests. Save screenshots with their dates and context, but also keep the underlying files or message exports when possible. For cryptocurrency, record the network, transaction identifier and public addresses, without exposing private keys.
Keep originals unchanged and work from copies. Use secure storage with a backup, restrict access and note where each record came from. Avoid publicly posting full bank details, identity documents or other people’s personal information. Redact copies when sharing general questions, while retaining intact originals securely.
An official body may specify its own submission format and requirements. Follow its verified instructions rather than uploading an archive to an unsolicited link. RECOVANT needs only a brief account for an informational discussion and is not an evidence repository or a service for preserving material for legal proceedings.
